Intended purpose
The intended purpose of the Era Elite (Er:YAG 2940 nm) laser system is the ablation of benign cutaneous lesions and skin resurfacing. The device is intended to be used by health care professionals, or under their control and responsibility, in plastic surgery, dermatology, general practice and other medical settings.
Contraindications
- A history of keloid or other abnormal scarring
- Use of photosensitizing medications or photosensitivity disorder history
- Lupus erythematosus
- Sunburn in the treatment site
- Active infection in the treatment site
- Pregnancy
Possible side effects
Side effects are rare, but can include:
- Eye damage from pulses within the ocular region or lack of safety goggles
- Hypo- or hyper-pigmentation
- Scarring caused by over-use (too many pulses on a single spot)
- Blistering from substance on the skin or excess laser energy
- Extended swelling and/or redness (erythema)
- Hives or raised papules / histamine response
- Skin irritation or damage from uses outside the intended purpose
Post-care: Post-care can be supported with ointment to keep the area moist until it heals. A mild transient erythema may persist after treatment. Patients should avoid the sun and wear sun block after treatment.
